The data controller for the personal data collected through lalingualavita.com is The Language Center (TLC) – La Lingua La Vita, located at Via Mazzini 18, 06059 Todi (PG), Italy. 2. What data we collect and why
Contact form

When you fill in the “Request information” form, we collect your name, email address and message, solely to reply to your request. Data is processed through the Contact Form 7 plugin and kept on our servers for as long as needed to handle your request, and afterwards for administrative and record-keeping purposes.

Course enrolments and purchases

If you enrol in a course or make a purchase through our online store (WooCommerce), we collect the data needed to process your order: name, address, email, phone number and billing details. Payments are handled by the payment providers integrated into WooCommerce, which process card data according to their own security standards (PCI-DSS); we do not store your payment card details ourselves.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is transferred to and stored by our email marketing provider, Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group LLC), based in the United States, under the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or by contacting us.

Browsing statistics

We use Jetpack / WordPress.com Stats and, where enabled, Google Analytics, to collect aggregated, anonymised statistics on site usage (pages visited, traffic source, device type), in order to improve our content and services.

3. Cookies used on this site

This site uses technical cookies, necessary for the site to function, and third-party cookies, which are only installed after you give consent via the cookie banner (Cookie Notice and WP GDPR Compliance plugins).

Technical cookies (always active)
  • wordpress_*, wp-settings-*: session management and browsing preferences;
  • woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_*: shopping cart and order management;
  • cookie_notice_accepted: stores your cookie banner choice.
Third-party cookies (subject to consent)
  • Google Analytics / Jetpack Stats: aggregated site usage statistics;
  • Google Maps: to display our location on the Contact page;
  • Mailchimp: if you subscribe to the newsletter form;
  • WhatsApp widget (Joinchat): to allow direct contact via WhatsApp.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of: performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (course enrolments and purchases), your explicit consent (newsletter, non-technical cookies), legitimate interest (aggregated statistics, site security), and legal obligations (invoicing, accounting record retention).

5. Data retention

Data relating to contact requests is kept for as long as needed to handle the request, and in any case no longer than 24 months. Data relating to enrolments/purchases is kept for the period required by tax and civil law (10 years for accounting records). Newsletter subscription data is kept until you withdraw your consent.

6. Disclosure and transfer of data to third parties

Your data may be shared with third-party providers acting as data processors, including: Automattic Inc. (Jetpack/WordPress.com), Google LLC (Google Analytics, Google Maps), The Rocket Science Group LLC (Mailchimp), and the payment providers integrated into WooCommerce. Some of these providers are based in the United States; any data transfer takes place under the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or other adequate safeguards provided for by the GDPR.

7. Your rights

Under Articles 15-22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), you have the right to request at any time: access to your personal data, rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. You can exercise these rights by writing to info@lalingualavita.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, www.garanteprivacy.it) or your local supervisory authority.

8. Data security

This site uses the HTTPS/SSL protocol to protect communications between your browser and our servers. We adopt appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss or destruction.
